Graduate Resume
When a person graduates from college, he starts to think about writing a resume. To get a good job, you need to have a resume that gives your detail profile. The resume creates first impression on the potential employer. Even if the graduate will not have a big list of work experience to boast of, he needs to mention his internship experiences. He/she can even mention about the part-time work experience that he had during his/her college education.
The format of this type of resume is common for all the graduates. One can make minor changes based on the area of specialization. The science graduates can include the information about projects completed while engineering graduates can include the internship experience and projects completed. The section of achievements and special interests is personalized and differs from person to person. Every resume has to be unique. That uniqueness comes in the resume through what information is given and how you give details of your career goals, educational qualifications, etc.
Take help of following points in creating a resume for a graduate:
- At the starting of your resume, you need to give your contact information. This should include full name, address, phone number, email address. This will help the employer to contact you.
- In the career objective section, you need to give answer to “What is my career goal?” The objective should be short, specific and to the point. The objective should summarize your goals, skills and background.
- Education section in the resume should list all the educational degrees you possess, the colleges/university you attended, year of passing. You can include professional certification that you have completed.
- List the internship experience you had in the chronological order. You can give details of the jobs with the designation, organization name, and period and job profile. You can mention the achievements at work place. You can give details of part time job that you did during your college days.
- If you have attended any seminars, workshops related to your job profile then mention that in your resume. You can include this information under work experience section or you can also form new category.
- Mention extra curricular activities that you were part of. You can describe voluntary activities that you have done under a banner of a club or a non-governmental organization.
- Make sure that the length of the resume should not exceed than a page. The employers don’t spend time on resume that are lengthy and lack content.
- Use a font and font size that is easily readable and professional. Don’t show your creativity in the resume.
